The direct answer
Before choosing a wholesale activewear supplier, identify whether the offer is current stock, a ready-to-brand base style or made-to-order production; then verify the seller and product identity, brand rights, available quantities, allowed customization, sample equivalence, quality responsibility, delivery basis and reorder continuity.
Name the commercial route before comparing the offer
| Offer type | What the buyer is purchasing | Evidence to request | Main uncertainty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current finished stock | Identified units already made and available for resale or branding. | SKU, quantity by size and color, condition, rights, sample identity and dispatch terms. | Inventory changes or the sample is not from the offered lot. |
| Ready-to-brand base style | An existing product architecture made or allocated under a program. | Base code and revision, customization limits, brand rights, production status and reorder policy. | The “same” base changes fabric, pattern or factory. |
| Made-to-order wholesale | A defined quantity produced after order using a stated base or specification. | Factory route, material and style baseline, MOQ basis, sample stages and release record. | Wholesale wording hides a normal custom-production timeline. |
| Custom private label | Buyer-controlled adaptation or original development for sale under its brand. | Ownership, specifications, approvals, subcontracting and production records. | Stock pricing is compared with a different custom scope. |
Verify seller, stock holder and manufacturer separately
The entity marketing the goods may be a wholesaler, exporter, trading company, brand owner or manufacturer. Record who contracts, receives payment, owns or is authorized to sell the product, holds the stock and answers for defects. For made-to-order goods, identify the physical production site and subcontracted processes. None of these roles is automatically better; hidden or inconsistent roles are the risk.
Prove that the sample represents the offer
Ask for the sample code, lot or production status and a written list of differences. A showroom sample can be older than current stock, decorated differently or made from another fabric. For ready-to-brand and made-to-order programs, confirm which pattern, material, construction and facility the approved sample represents.
Ask for availability and price on one dated basis
State quantities by style, color and size; requested branding and packaging; destination; delivery rule; and required timing. The response should distinguish available stock from planned production, identify reservations or validity, and separate product, customization, testing, inspection, packaging and freight. “Low MOQ” is not meaningful until material, color, size and branding minimums are separated.
Clear product rights and market labels before sale
Confirm that the seller has the right to supply the goods and that the buyer has permission for any branding or adaptation. Do not remove or replace labels in a way that creates a false origin, fiber, care or responsible-party statement. For U.S. sales, FTC guidance describes textile fibre content, country of origin, responsible business identity and care-labelling obligations; other markets require their own review.
Use “China supplier” as a location filter—not proof
A search for a China activewear supplier, China sportswear manufacturer or China activewear factory describes a sourcing location and possible role, not a verified entity or capability. Check the legal seller, beneficiary, address, facility relationship, export and product documents, current product route and applicable evidence. A country keyword cannot establish factory ownership, quality, capacity, certification or availability.
Define what “reorder” means for the route
- 01
Stock reorder. Confirm whether replenishment is identical stock, a new lot or a new production run.
- 02
Base-style reorder. Compare pattern, fabric, finish, construction and facility with the prior revision.
- 03
Branding reorder. Control artwork, application method, labels and packaging revisions.
- 04
Quality record. Retain accepted defects, measurements, sample identity and inspection disposition.
- 05
Unavailable input. Require disclosure and approval before any substitute is used.

Buyer questions
What is a wholesale activewear supplier?
It may sell finished stock, offer ready-to-brand base styles or produce bulk quantities to order. Ask which route applies to the quoted product.
Is a wholesaler the same as an activewear manufacturer?
No. A wholesaler sells goods in quantity; a manufacturer performs or controls production. One company may do both, but the roles and physical facility should be verified.
Can I add my logo to wholesale gym wear?
Only within the supplier’s stated product and rights route. Confirm the base product, permitted customization, logo method, labels, sample and responsibility for the finished item.
How do I verify a China sportswear manufacturer?
Verify the legal entity, payment beneficiary, physical production site, proposed processes, subcontractors, product-specific evidence, sample and production-release controls.
Will wholesale activewear be identical on reorder?
Do not assume it. Confirm stock lot or new production status and compare pattern, material, finish, color, construction, branding and facility with the approved baseline.
